We had a visit from the fire brigade! - 11 November 2011

The fire brigade arrived here unexpectantly last week to do an inspection! Of course we were well aware that the fire brigade are doing random checks on business premises in NI but it is funny that we happened to be one of them that were randomly selected!

When we read the letter they left it was daunting enough for us never mind for businesses out there that aren’t up to date with all the new legislation.

They were looking for a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, an up to date fire precautions log book, records of staff training, maintenance of fire fighting equipment and records of testing and maintenance of all fire safety systems including fire alarms, emergency lighting, sprinkler system and smoke ventilation system. They were also at liberty to speak to members of staff to confirm their level of fire safety awareness!

We got the report this morning from them and needless to say we passed with flying colours!!
